Agradaa Responds to Defamation Lawsuit

Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, known as Agradaa or Mama Pat, has dismissed a defamation lawsuit. The suit was filed by gospel musician Empress Gifty Oppong Adorye, also called Empress Gifty.

The lawsuit seeks GH¢20 million (200 billion old cedis). Agradaa reacted strongly, calling the legal action an empty threat. In a viral video, she said anyone can go to court.

She stated, “I deal with only classy people.” Agradaa added that she would counter-sue Empress Gifty’s husband in international court.

Agradaa accused Empress Gifty and her husband of a smear campaign against her. She claimed they cannot scare her with court actions.

The lawsuit was filed on May 20, 2025, at the High Court in Accra. Empress Gifty is represented by Sam Kyere Esq. from Ossei-Aidooh-Akpokavie Kyere & Co.

She claims Agradaa made highly defamatory statements during live sessions on social media. The suit demands a perpetual injunction against further defamatory remarks.

Empress Gifty also wants Agradaa to remove all offending content and cover legal costs. She described the impact of Agradaa's words as damaging to her reputation.

Married to politician Hopeson Adorye and a mother of four, she says the attacks have affected her children too. They have faced ridicule at school due to these comments.

Court documents cite specific insults made in Twi accusing Empress Gifty of promiscuity and other degrading acts. One translated statement suggested inappropriate behavior involving dogs.

Empress Gifty argues these comments are defamatory and aim to destroy her career in music and entertainment. She has asked the court for intervention against what she calls “unprintable” words.

Agradaa has eight days to respond to the lawsuit either personally or through a lawyer. If she fails to respond, it could lead to a default judgment for Empress Gifty.

Despite the serious nature of the case, Agradaa remains defiant. She mockingly stated that lawyers need work and added, “My name is Woman Gaddafi, Woman Trump!”
