Controversial evangelist Nana Agradaa has praised President John Mahama. She appreciated his leniency towards Sammy Gyamfi after public backlash. This followed a viral video showing Agradaa receiving a dollar gift from Gyamfi.
In an Instagram video on May 14, Agradaa thanked the President. She was happy that Gyamfi faced no punishment. “God of Thunder. God bless John Mahama,” she exclaimed while celebrating.
Agradaa feared Gyamfi might lose his job due to the incident. “But my God did not disappoint me,” she said. She expressed joy that “haters have been shamed” and thanked Jesus for Gyamfi's victory.
The incident sparked outrage when Agradaa snatched dollar bills from Gyamfi during a meeting. Many questioned the appropriateness of this gesture, citing ethical concerns about a public official's conduct.
In response to the uproar, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah issued a query to Gyamfi. After reviewing his apology, the Presidency decided no further action was needed. Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu explained that a public apology sufficed.
He noted that President Mahama had previously stated this approach in the Code of Conduct launch. The Chief of Staff advised Gyamfi to act in ways reflecting public expectations.
Ofosu added that Mr. Gyamfi committed to preventing similar incidents in the future. Nana Agradaa’s reaction has brought more attention to the saga as her celebration went viral again.
She declared Gyamfi’s “victory” and attributed it to divine intervention.
