Ahiagbah cites internal rifts as a factor in NPP’s 2024 election loss

The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Director of Communications, Richard Ahiagbah, has attributed the party’s loss in the 2024 general elections to internal divisions that undermined its campaign and unity.

The party’s ambition to secure a third consecutive term, known as “breaking the eight,” failed, resulting in the loss of the presidency and a significant decline in parliamentary seats.

In an interview on December 12, Ahiagbah emphasized that internal conflicts, rather than the government’s performance, were the primary cause of the defeat.

He noted that unresolved issues from internal elections created lasting divisions that weakened the party.

“These rifts fester once in power, making reconciliation and rebuilding challenging,” he said, urging the party to focus on addressing internal challenges to restore its strength.
