AirMed Flight N823AM, an air ambulance, was confirmed to have landed at Kotoka International Airport, where it remained for five days before departing for Spain.
The Minority in Parliament has raised concerns over its activities, alleging possible links to drug trafficking or money laundering.
Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defense and Interior Committee, claims the aircraft did not transport any medical patients, fueling suspicions about its cargo. Flight records show that after leaving Ghana, the plane completed several international flights, including trips to Nigeria and the U.S.
Additionally, the Minority has drawn attention to another aircraft, Cavok Air’s Antonov An-12B, which stayed in Ghana for 13 days before departing alongside AirMed Flight N823AM.
This comes amid heightened scrutiny following the recent seizure of $350 million worth of cocaine in Cape Coast.
In response, President John Mahama has directed National Security to launch a full investigation into the matter, emphasizing the need for transparency in Ghana’s fight against illicit activities.
