AirMed International refutes drug trade allegations after March 2025 stop in Accra

AirMed International operates the medical transport flight N823AM. They have denied allegations of drug trade or money laundering. These claims came from Rev. Ntim Fordjour, a member of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee.

The accusations arose after the aircraft stopped at Kotoka International Airport in March 2025. This raised suspicions about its operations in Ghana.

In an official statement to EIB Network’s Joshua Kodjo Mensah, AirMed explained the situation. They stated that the stopover was routine and planned.

On March 20, 2025, the aircraft was traveling from the United States for patient transport. It made several fuel stops, including one at Kotoka International Airport in Accra.

Upon arrival, the aircraft had a mechanical issue with two blown tires. This required immediate repairs. AirMed confirmed that no patient was onboard during this time.

The aircraft was grounded for a few days while repairs were completed. A second aircraft was sent with necessary parts and a maintenance team to fix the issue.
