Akosua Manu questions Govt’s silence over Mayor’s assault threat

Akosua Manu, a former NPP parliamentary candidate, is raising concerns. She questions the government's silence after Kumasi Mayor Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi threatened traders.

Manu finds it troubling that the presidency has not responded. She believes this silence suggests approval of lawlessness in leadership.

She expressed her shock on Breakfast Daily on Channel One TV. “How can someone in a leadership role threaten physical assault?” she asked. She was surprised when the mayor reiterated his threat.

Her main concern is the lack of action from the presidency. Manu argues that serious administrations would dismiss such threats immediately. “He should have been the shortest-serving appointee,” she stated firmly.

She believes that repeating such threats should lead to instant removal from office. “The President should have called the Chief of Staff to act,” she said.

Manu sees a growing tolerance for inappropriate behavior in public office. She noted that if it were Nana Akufo Addo’s government, the mayor would have been replaced by now.

Her comments reflect a broader critique of leadership accountability. She warned that silence from leaders could encourage similar behavior from others.

“If his boys will do the work, it must be civil and humane,” she added. “Nobody should beat anyone.”

Akosua Manu emphasizes accountability for both words and actions in governance.
