Akosua Manu questions govts silence over mayor’s assault threat

Akosua Manu, a former NPP parliamentary candidate, is raising concerns. She questions the government's silence after Kumasi Mayor Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi's threat to traders.

Manu finds it troubling that the presidency has not responded. She believes this silence suggests approval of lawlessness in leadership.

She expressed her shock on Breakfast Daily on Channel One TV. "How can someone in a leadership role threaten physical assault?" she asked. She was surprised when the mayor reiterated his stance.

Her main concern is the lack of swift action from the presidency. Manu argues that such threats should lead to immediate dismissal.

"He should have been the shortest-serving appointee," she stated firmly. "The President should have called for his removal right away."

Manu sees a growing tolerance for inappropriate behavior in public office.

She believes that if it were Nana Akufo Addo’s government, the mayor would have been removed quickly. "There is no justification for reiterating such threats," she insisted.

Her comments reflect a broader critique of leadership standards today. She warned that silence from leaders could encourage similar behavior from others.

"If his boys will do the work, it must be civil and humane," she added. "Nobody should be beaten."
