Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo praised President John Dramani Mahama. He commended him for establishing the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving. This event is set for July 1, 2025.
During a visit from the planning committee, he spoke at his home. He stressed the importance of civility, peace, and unity in Ghana.
"We all need to support this initiative," he said. "It’s important for us to come together and give thanks." He highlighted the blessings that have been bestowed upon the nation.
Akufo-Addo noted that Ghana has avoided civil war despite its history of coups. Although he will be out of the country on that day, he fully supports the event.
Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, chairman of the planning committee, thanked Akufo-Addo for his endorsement. "He welcomed us and endorsed the program," Ankrah said. "We are very grateful for his support."
