President Nana Akufo-Addo has commissioned Ghana’s largest naval base and its most advanced ship at the Sekondi Naval Base, marking a major milestone in maritime security.
The newly established Forward Operating Base at Ezinlibo will safeguard vital oil and gas installations.
Over 20 modern vessels, including the Ghana Navy Ship Achimota, and high-tech systems like drones and radars, have been added to boost surveillance in the Gulf of Guinea.
Akufo-Addo urged Parliament to approve the purchase of Offshore Patrol Vessels to further strengthen the Navy.
He lauded the Navy’s advancements, which include a new training command and cutting-edge simulators, ensuring readiness to protect Ghana’s waters and economy.
The event underscores Ghana’s commitment to secure and sustainable maritime operations.
