Akufo-Addo commissions "uncompleted" Regional Hospital

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on January 4, 2025, commissioned the 250-bed Ashanti Regional Hospital and a 50-bed Infectious Disease Centre in Sewua, Bosomtwe District.

However, Euroget De-Invest S.A., the contractors, claim the commissioning violated contractual terms.

According to Euroget, the hospital remains incomplete, with the government yet to fully pay for the project. The contractors emphasized that they retain possession of the site until proper handover is conducted, accusing the government of breaching the agreement.

Despite the controversy, the hospital is expected to alleviate pressure on the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. It features advanced facilities, including an intensive care unit, maternity suites, and a medical gas plant.

Euroget has called for a thorough investigation, raising concerns about legal adherence and the timing of the event, just days before the transition of power.
