Akufo-Addo elevates Ho, Sunyani, and Wa from municipalities to metropolises

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has granted executive approval for the upgrading of selected districts to municipalities and municipalities to metropolises.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation, and Rural Development on December 4, it was revealed that the upgrades followed a formal request made by the ministry in line with the provisions of Act 936.

The municipalities now upgraded to metropolises include Ho, Sunyani, New Juaben, and Wa. Additionally, Offinso North, Brim North, and Karaga districts have been elevated to municipal status.
