President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has awarded presidential charters to 14 private universities, granting them autonomy to award their own degrees and diplomas.

Speaking at the Jubilee House on Thursday, the President hailed the event as a transformative milestone for Ghana's tertiary education sector.

The recipients include the National Defence College, KAAF University College, Heritage Christian University College, and 11 others.

Akufo-Addo emphasized that this recognition underscores the government’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and nation-building.

He praised the institutions for meeting the rigorous criteria set by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), covering governance, academic quality, research, and community engagement.

The charters mark the highest level of recognition in Ghana’s higher education landscape.
