Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President, spoke about Nana Akufo-Addo's popularity. He acknowledged that the former president is not as popular now. However, he believes future generations will appreciate Akufo-Addo's contributions to Ghana.
Bawumia made these comments during the NPP’s Thank You Tour in the Eastern Region. He expressed confidence that Ghanaians will recognize Akufo-Addo's work over time. He also predicted that by 2028, people will call for the NPP to return to power.
He thanked party members for their efforts in 2024 and urged unity within the NPP. Meanwhile, Bryan Acheampong announced his candidacy for the NPP flagbearership in 2028.
Acheampong joins other candidates like Dr. Bawumia and Kennedy Agyapong in this race. Former MP Andy Appiah-Kubi praised Acheampong as a strong candidate for leadership. He emphasized the need for a revitalizing figure to lead the NPP into the next elections.
Bawumia remains optimistic about the party's future and its potential impact on Ghanaian politics.
