Alhaji Osman Masawudu, the Third National Vice Chairman of the NPP, has rejected claims that former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo caused the party's defeat in the 2024 elections.
Some NPP supporters have criticized the former President after the party's significant loss. In an interview on Citi Eyewitness News, Alhaji Masawudu said these claims are misguided. He stated, “Many Ghanaians think this defeat is due to Akufo-Addo. This is wrong thinking.”
He emphasized that blaming the former President for unfulfilled promises is unfair. Alhaji Masawudu also mentioned that the NPP will focus on Akufo-Addo’s achievements in its 2028 campaign.
He highlighted that Akufo-Addo made significant contributions to health and infrastructure in Ghana. The upcoming campaign will showcase these accomplishments as a foundation for their strategy moving forward.
