Akufo Addo’s 2016 WASSCE results figures inaccurate -Dubawa

In his final State of the Nation Address, President Akufo-Addo highlighted improvements in WASSCE pass rates under his administration, crediting the Free SHS programme.

However, fact-checkers from Dubawa revealed slight inaccuracies in the 2016 figures he cited.

For English, the actual pass rate was 53.19%, not 51.6%; Integrated Science was 48.48%, not 48.35%; and Mathematics was 32.8%, not 33.12%. While minor, these discrepancies emphasize the need for precise data in public addresses.

Despite this, the president's legacy in education, marked by improved pass rates and expanded access through Free SHS, remains significant, with the programme transforming Ghana’s education landscape.
