The National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) has commenced investigations into the official travels of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during his tenure.

Akufo-Addo, who left office on January 7, 2025, after serving two terms, is now at the center of inquiries regarding his foreign trips.

Asaase News has confirmed that NIB officials reached out to the former Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei Opare, inviting her to assist with the ongoing probe.

The investigation has sparked intense public debate over governance transparency and accountability.

Meanwhile, following reports suggesting the Office of the President sanctioned the probe, presidential spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu has refuted the claim, stating that no such directive was issued.

It remains unclear whether the probe covers all of Akufo-Addo’s travels or specific instances.

The NIB has yet to make an official statement.
