Dr. Kwaku Ansah Asah, a former Director of the Ghana School of Law, discussed the controversy over Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Sackey Torkornoo's removal petitions. He believes former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo played a key role in this issue.
On Morning Starr, Dr. Asah said the former president should not have acted on the petition before leaving office. He wished that Akufo-Addo had left it for the incoming president to handle.
Dr. Asah noted that if Akufo-Addo followed constitutional procedures, his decision is binding. This means the current administration cannot interfere with it.
He explained that if the former president did not act according to the Constitution, President John Mahama could revisit the matter.
Dr. Asah supports reopening the issue because he anticipated problems from Akufo-Addo's final determination on the petition. He stated that this situation has led to further complications now being faced.
