Dr. Kwaku Ansah Asah, former Director of the Ghana School of Law, has linked the ongoing controversy over petitions seeking the removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo to former President Nana Akufo-Addo’s actions.
Speaking on *Morning Starr*, he stated that Akufo-Addo should have left the matter for the incoming administration instead of acting on it before leaving office.
However, he acknowledged that if the former president followed constitutional procedures, the decision remains binding.
On the contrary, he argued that if due process was not followed, President John Mahama has the right to revisit the issue.
Dr. Asah warned that Akufo-Addo’s handling of the petition has created fresh legal and political challenges for the current administration.
