Akufo-Addo to deliver final State of Nation Address today

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will present his final State of the Nation Address on Friday, January 3, 2025, fulfilling his constitutional obligation before exiting office.

The address will precede the dissolution of the 8th Parliament on January 6, 2025, which will give way to the 9th Parliament later that night.

At 11:00 PM on January 6, the new Parliament will convene to elect a Speaker and two Deputy Speakers.

The Speaker-elect and Members of Parliament will then be sworn in at midnight, symbolizing the formal transition to a new legislative session.
