Reports suggest President Nana Akufo-Addo may relieve Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare of his duties today, December 20, 2024, replacing him with COP Tetteh Yohuno.
This alleged move is speculated to be a response to Dampare’s efforts to uphold electoral integrity during the December 7 elections.
Owula Mangortey, a citizen known for sharing intelligence during critical national moments, warns that such a decision could spark insecurity and disrupt the anticipated transition to President-elect John Dramani Mahama’s administration.
Mangortey further cautioned security agencies to brace for possible repercussions and urged Ghanaians to resist actions that could compromise peace and democracy.
While he acknowledges the President’s prerogative to appoint and dismiss officials, he emphasizes the need to prioritize national stability.
