Minister-designate for Government Communication, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has dismissed Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin’s concerns over Dr. Johnson Asiama’s assumption of office as Bank of Ghana Governor, arguing that a similar approach was used under former President Akufo-Addo.
Afenyo-Markin had urged Dr. Asiama to wait for Council of State approval before acting as Governor, warning of procedural violations.
However, Kwakye Ofosu countered by citing past instances, including the appointment of a Common Fund Administrator and a CEO for the Community Water and Sanitation Agency under Akufo-Addo’s administration, which followed the same process.
Meanwhile, the presidency justified Dr. Asiama’s nomination following Dr. Ernest Addison’s decision to proceed on terminal leave ahead of retirement.
