Akwatia MP Ernest Yaw Kumi has appealed his contempt of court conviction by the Koforidua High Court after being found guilty of violating an injunction that barred him from being sworn in as an MP.
Although the court withheld sentencing due to his absence, it issued a bench warrant for his arrest.
Speaking to journalists in Parliament, Deputy Minority Whip Jerry Ahmed Shaib confirmed that Kumi has also filed a motion to stay the execution of the warrant pending his appeal.
He further accused the presiding judge of bias in the ruling.
