Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council petitions Speaker over alleged Insult to J.B. Danquah

The Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council is set to petition Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin today, March 7, 2025, over alleged derogatory remarks made against the late Dr. J.B. Danquah on the floor of Parliament.

Osabarima Okogyeaman Apagya Fori IV, the Kyebi Apapamuhene and warlord of Akyem Abuakwa, confirmed that the Council is demanding a retraction and apology from Tamale Central MP Murtala Mohammed, who allegedly referred to Dr. Danquah as a traitor and CIA operative.

The youth of Okyeman have also backed the Council’s call, urging the MP to apologize to the people of Akyem Abuakwa and the nation.

The petition follows recent concerns raised in Parliament over derogatory remarks made against political figures, with Speaker Bagbin already directing a probe into a similar case involving Dr. Zanetor Agyemang Rawlings.
