Alabaster Box threatens to sue Medikal over “Welcome to Africa” copyright

The Ghanaian music group Alabaster Box is considering legal action against Medikal. His song "Welcome to Africa" allegedly infringes on their copyright.

Alabaster Box claims Medikal sampled their hit song "Akwaaba" without permission. Their legal representatives, Sustineri Attorneys, sent a formal notice to him. They argue that the beginning of his song closely resembles theirs.

They believe Medikal's actions create a derivative work that violates their rights. The group also suggests he is familiar with their music, indicating intentional infringement.

"Welcome to Africa" has been promoted widely on various platforms. It has over 72,000 views on Medikal's verified YouTube channel. Alabaster Box argues this promotion exploits their intellectual property for profit.

They demand the immediate removal of the song from all platforms. They want an end to its public performance and marketing as well. Additionally, they request all related agreements and financial accounts.

If Medikal does not comply, legal action may follow. This could include a court injunction and claims for damages. Alabaster Box is committed to protecting their creative rights and reputation in the industry.
