“All is smooth and sailing” – Franklin Cudjoe on Mahama, Jane Naana and Bagbin absent from Ghana

Franklin Cudjoe, President of IMANI Africa, made a sarcastic remark. He noted he didn't realize the President, Vice President, and Speaker were out of the country.

Cudjoe stated that everything is still running smoothly without them. He mocked the previous government, saying no one is digging pits for $58 million. He also mentioned that no one is being financially shackled or lectured about locking up dollars.

His comments followed accusations from the Minority in Parliament. They claimed President Mahama caused a constitutional breach by leaving without an Acting President. All three top officials were abroad at the same time.

Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman was in the UK for medical treatment. President John Mahama attended an African Union Debt Conference in Togo. Speaker Alban Bagbin was also out of the country.

With all three unavailable, Chief Justice Gertrude Torkonoo is on suspension and cannot step in. However, Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe, Acting Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), disagreed with claims of a power vacuum.

He asserted that Ghana's government structure is functioning properly. Speaking on Face to Face on Channel One TV, he emphasized there are three branches: Judiciary, Executive, and Legislature.

Tamakloe confirmed there is an Acting Chief Justice in place and insisted there is no power vacuum. He concluded by stating it appears the President remains in the country.

Cudjoe's post read: "I didn’t even notice the president, vice president, and speaker were all out of Ghana."
