All new cases in Superior Courts now subject to acting CJ’s assignment

The Acting Chief Justice, Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, has issued a new directive. This directive centralizes the assignment and scheduling of all newly filed cases in Ghana's superior courts.

On April 23, a circular was signed by the Deputy Judicial Secretary. Registrars from the High Court, Court of Appeal, and Supreme Court must now send all fresh filings to the Acting Chief Justice’s office.

All new cases or applications must go through this office for assignment. This is especially important for cases involving multiple courts.

The authority to set hearing dates is also centralized. The Chief Justice’s office will now oversee this scheduling process.

The memo states that this directive replaces all previous procedures on case assignments and court listings.
