Ghanaian dancehall king Shatta Wale has responded to critics of Sammy Gyamfi. Gyamfi is the CEO of the Ghana Gold Board. He faced backlash for a video showing him gifting money to Nana Agradaa.
Shatta Wale questioned if critics knew when Gyamfi began helping others. He expressed that Ghanaians often tarnish people's reputations too easily.
In a Facebook post, Shatta Wale wrote, “Do you all know when Sammy Gyamfi started helping the streets? Leave the young man alone if you don’t know his humble beginnings.”
Sammy Gyamfi has faced serious scrutiny since the video surfaced. In it, he gifts large sums of money to Patricia Asiedua, known as Nana Agradaa.
Kwesi Parker-Wilson, a journalist with Oyerepa TV, defended Gyamfi. He challenged critics to name one politician who doesn’t give money. If they can’t, he said he would quit journalism.
Parker-Wilson stated that no Ghanaian journalist or politician should criticize Gyamfi. He emphasized that giving money is common among politicians.
Additionally, Sammy Gyamfi has publicly apologized for his actions. He expressed sincere regret over the incident and explained that gifting money is part of his routine to help those in need.
