All permanent PMMC staff are still at post – Sammy Gyamfi

Sammy Gyamfi is the Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod). He is also the National Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Recently, he addressed concerns about staffing changes at the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC).

During an interview on Channel One TV’s The Point of View, Gyamfi denied claims that qualified PMMC employees were replaced. He stated that no permanent staff had been affected by recent restructuring. "So far, I’m the only new employee of GoldBod," he explained.

Gyamfi acknowledged that some contract staff were let go. This mainly affected those stationed at PMMC outposts. He emphasized that all permanent workers remain employed by PMMC. The layoffs involved contract workers and were due to redundancy.

These staffing changes are part of broader reforms in Ghana’s minerals sector. GoldBod aims to improve operational efficiency and ensure benefits for all Ghanaians from mineral resources. Additionally, GoldBod began licensing service providers on April 23.
