Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has assured Ghanaian students studying abroad of plans to increase their allowances.
While details on the exact increment remain undisclosed, he confirmed that consultations would be held to enhance stipends and ensure timely disbursement.
Speaking in Benin during an official visit, he addressed concerns from Ghanaian students enrolled in a one-year French exchange program, who currently receive CFA 45,000 (GHS 1,147) monthly, alongside book and medical allowances.
Students also raised concerns about the program’s duration being shortened to six months. Ablakwa’s visit is part of a broader initiative to engage with Ghanaians abroad, with Benin and Nigeria being his first stops.
