Former Railways Minister John Peter Amewu was arrested on March 25, 2025.
National Security operatives detained him as part of an investigation.
This investigation focuses on the failed $2 million Sky Train Project.
Attorney-General Dr. Dominic Ayine confirmed the project did not meet its goals.
He announced that prosecutions related to this case will start by mid-April.
Dr. Ayine assured the public that suspects are cooperating with investigators.
Efforts are ongoing to recover misappropriated public funds.
John Peter Amewu is a Ghanaian politician and former Minister for Railways Development.
He has also served as Minister for Energy and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources.
Amewu is a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He was previously the Member of Parliament for Hohoe.
Amewu played a key role in Ghana’s energy sector and addressing illegal mining (galamsey).
His recent arrest is connected to the ongoing investigation into the Sky Train Project.
