Dr. Richard Amoako Baah, a political scientist, has announced a new movement. He is the former member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). The new movement is called the New Patriotic Front (NPF). He cites deep disillusionment with the current NPP leadership.
At a press briefing in Accra on Monday, he criticized the NPP. He called it a "broken and incompetent party." He believes it has been taken over by arrogance and corruption under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
“The NPP that we once knew is no more,” he stated. “It has been destroyed by arrogance, incompetence, and corruption.” He added that the current leadership no longer serves Ghanaians.
Dr. Amoako Baah previously lectured at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). He held key roles in NPP’s policy and communications sectors. He believes the NPF will offer an honest alternative for Ghanaians seeking accountable leadership.
He accused the Akufo-Addo administration of betraying core party ideals. Governance has shifted to self-interest rather than serving the nation, he said. “What we are witnessing is not just poor leadership; it is a complete collapse of values,” he noted.
The formation of NPF represents a significant split from the NPP. This comes as the party seeks support ahead of December's general elections. Dr. Amoako Baah mentioned that NPF will soon reveal its national leadership structure and policy priorities. They may also field parliamentary and presidential candidates in future elections.
