AngloGold Ashanti has opened a soap factory in Dokyiwa. This is part of its Enterprise Development Programme.
The factory cost 1.8 million cedis. It aims to strengthen the local economy and improve community life.
Edmond Oduro Adjei, the Community Relations Officer, shared that the factory will create jobs. It will also provide significant benefits to the people of Dokyiwa.
This project is part of a 10-year Socio-Economic Development Plan. Local contractors Xmell Company Limited and MC Hammer Company Limited are collaborating on this initiative.
Edmond highlighted that the Obuasi mine is focusing on projects for women entrepreneurs. The Dokyiwa Soap Factory acknowledges women's vital role in community development.
AngloGold has supplied 35 women with six months’ worth of raw materials. They will use these materials to produce liquid and bar soaps.
