Annoh-Dompreh – I expected the NDC to fail, but I just didn’t think it would be this fast

Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh has taken a swipe at the early performance of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, warning of potential scandals within its first year in office.

Speaking on AsaasePa 107.3MHz’s Atumpan programme on Monday, April 14, the Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP described recent events as early signs of failure, saying he anticipated challenges but not at such a rapid pace.

“I knew the NDC would fail, but I didn’t expect it to happen this early,” he remarked. “Every new government may have shortfalls within a year or two – but theirs is too early.”

He also criticised comments made by Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, suggesting they contradict President John Mahama’s call for collaboration among security agencies in addressing the “AirMed” scandal involving alleged drug trafficking and money laundering.

“If you are a minister for communication, you speak for the president,” Annoh-Dompreh said. “In one breath, the president calls for cooperation. In another, his minister throws jabs and calls people liars and clowns.”

While he stopped short of making direct corruption allegations, Annoh-Dompreh predicted that the current administration will be plagued by scandals within its first 12 months.

“I won’t curse them,” he added, “but after one year, we’ll see the scandals that will unfold.”
