Former Ghana School of Law Director, Kwaku Ansah-Asare, has dismissed the petition seeking the removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkonoo, describing it as “mischievous” and baseless.

The petition, filed by Ghanaian-American professor Stephen Kwaku Asare, accuses the Chief Justice of constitutional and administrative breaches, claiming her actions undermine judicial credibility.

The petitioner invokes Article 146 of the 1992 Constitution, calling for her removal to restore public trust.

Ansah-Asare, speaking on Morning Starr, argued that the Chief Justice’s authority, including judge transfers, is lawful and routine. He emphasized that unless such transfers disrupt pending cases, they do not constitute grounds for impeachment.

Labeling the petition as meritless, he urged its dismissal, stressing that administrative decisions within the judiciary fall squarely under the Chief Justice’s purview.
