The Anyako Youth Association has donated essential medical equipment to the Anyako Health Centre. This donation is part of their ongoing efforts to improve local healthcare. It marks Phase II of their commitment to strengthen health delivery in the community.
The items were presented during the 2025 Anyako Youth Summit. They include a refrigerator, washing machine, infrared thermometer gun, and blood pressure apparatus. Other items are glucometers with strips and a carton of surgical gloves. According to Association President Sergeant Unity Fiagbedzi, these donations will meet immediate needs and enhance service delivery.
Sergeant Fiagbedzi thanked all donors for their support. He highlighted contributors like Mr. Samuel Nyadroh and Children, Madam Ruby Dzade, and others. However, he noted that their journey is not over yet.
The AYA has launched a self-help initiative to raise funds for a Hematology Analyzer. This machine is crucial for the health centre's operations.
In addition to healthcare, the Association focuses on education, water, sanitation, and security. Their educational initiatives include a quiz competition for Anyako Basic Schools and awards for top students from Basic 1 to JHS 3. They also plan to launch a Best Teacher Award.
"We cannot do it alone," said AYA President Fiagbedzi. “Our vision is collective.” He invited everyone to join in building a stronger Anyako.
Togbi Aposa VI formally handed over the items to the Health Centre. He praised the youth for their leadership in community development. "The youth are the lifeline of every community," he stated.
He urged unity among residents for the development of Anyako. Mr. Bone Dzakpasu from NOAKU pledged continued support and emphasized the need for collaboration.
Madam Caroline Tomefa received the items on behalf of the health centre staff. She expressed gratitude but made an urgent appeal for further assistance.
She highlighted several pressing needs:
- A 20-bed admission ward for male, female, and pediatric patients.
- A Hematology Analyzer to improve diagnostic capabilities.
- Renovation of staff accommodation due to safety concerns.
"We often refer patients to Sacred Heart Hospital at Weme because of limited space," she explained. "We need help to serve our people better."
