The Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, spoke recently at Accra Girls Senior High School. He urged former students to support the government's STEM Initiative. This initiative aims to improve education quality in Ghana.
Dr. Apaak delivered his speech during the unveiling of a refurbished chemistry lab. The lab was funded by the 1984/1985 year group of old students. He emphasized that STEM education is essential for competing in the 21st century.
He stated, "His Excellency John Dramani Mahama's government is prioritizing STEM education." However, he noted that the government cannot do it alone. He called on other alumni to follow the example set by AGOSA's 1984/1985 group.
"Together, we can produce a competitive labor force," he added. Dr. Apaak also encouraged teachers to remain committed to their students. This commitment is crucial even when teaching materials are lacking.
