The Appointments Committee of Parliament has summoned activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor to substantiate claims of bribery against its members.
The allegations surfaced ahead of the vetting of Defence Minister-designate Dr. Omane Boamah on Tuesday, January 28, drawing significant public attention.
Committee Chairman and 1st Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Bernard Ahiafor, dismissed the claims as baseless, stating they undermine the integrity of the parliamentary vetting process.
He has instructed the committee’s clerk to formally invite Barker-Vormawor to present evidence during a session scheduled for Wednesday, January 29.
Ahiafor reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to transparency, emphasizing, “We do not demand money from nominees before vetting.”
Barker-Vormawor, known for his bold criticism of government entities, is yet to respond to the summons.
