Armah Buah Charges Lands Commission To Work Towards Restoring Its Credibility

Minister Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah has urged the Lands Commission to improve its image. He wants them to overcome public perceptions of corruption. This call came during his visit to the Commission’s head office in Accra.

Buah emphasized the need for commitment and excellence. He noted that public mistrust has been a long-standing issue. "I expect the Lands Commission to align with the government's agenda," he stated.

He believes that together, they can make a difference in Ghana. The Minister highlighted values like timeliness, dedication, and integrity in public service. With the right mindset, he is confident they can transform the Commission's image.

Buah also stressed the importance of digitalizing processes to combat corruption. Digital transformation will enhance transparency and streamline services. He assured staff that their remuneration packages would be reviewed to boost morale.

"Motivated staff produce results," he added. One major challenge discussed was the lack of a national base map. This absence limits the Commission's ability to fulfill its mandate.

The Minister mentioned that $165 million is needed for mapping efforts. He pledged to work with the Ministry of Finance for funding support. "There are many things you can address now," he urged staff.

Deputy Minister Yusif Sulemana encouraged management to meet their mandates effectively. Executive Secretary Mr. Benjamin Arthur briefed Buah on strategic goals and ongoing digitalization efforts.

Arthur echoed concerns about how the lack of a national base map affects operations. The visit concluded with a tour of facilities and interactions with staff at the National Data Center.

Buah’s visit aims to position the Lands Commission as an efficient, trustworthy institution for national development.
