Two unidentified men attacked a revenue officer at Yilo Krobo District Hospital. This incident occurred around 2 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29. The men were armed with knives and pretended to seek help for a patient.
Believing they were genuine clients, the officer opened her office. She wanted to alert those in charge of registration. At that moment, the men demanded to know where the cash was kept.
The attackers cut her right eyebrow and arm, causing her to fall. They then searched the drawers for money. However, they fled when the officer screamed for help.
It is unclear how the robbers entered the hospital. The security officer on duty did not see them come in. Management believes weak perimeter fencing may have contributed to this breach.
Dr. Francisca Mensah Darkwah is the Medical Superintendent of the hospital. She stated that this attack highlights an urgent need for better security measures. Changes will be made to reduce staff exposure during late-night hours.
Hospital authorities are calling for immediate improvements to security infrastructure. They want to prevent future incidents like this one.
