Protesters arrested during the #OccupyJulorbiHouse demonstration have appeared in Accra court today, with over 12 of them transported under heavy security.
The arrests occurred during a three-day protest at the 37 Roundabout, where demonstrators voiced concerns over issues like illegal mining (galamsey) and economic mismanagement.
Among those arrested is lawyer and social media influencer Ama Governor.
In court, protesters were charged with conspiracy to commit crime, specifically unlawful assembly.
So far, 12 have pleaded not guilty, and 10 have been remanded, with their case adjourned to October 8, 2024.
Lawyers representing the protesters expressed frustration over the lack of information from the police regarding the detainees' whereabouts.
