The Asante Professionals Club (APC) launched its 10th Anniversary Celebrations on May 25, 2025. The event took place at Erata Hotel in East Legon, Accra. The theme for the celebration is “Honouring Our Roots; Shaping Our Future.”
Members of the Club attended the launch. They are professionals from various backgrounds within the Asante Kingdom. Founding Members, State Functionaries, and Members of Parliament were also present. Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye proposed forming the Club and was among those attending.
Dr. Isaac Augustus Antwi, President of APC, welcomed everyone at the launch. He highlighted APC's objectives focused on developing Asanteman and Ghana as a whole. He emphasized how individuals and groups can support government efforts in development.
He quoted an old adage about needing more groups like APC to aid development across Ghana. To this end, APC has formed diaspora branches to connect with Asante professionals abroad.
“Today, we have branches in the USA and UK,” he said. These branches help enhance our development agenda and plans for more branches are underway.
The President thanked all members for their ten years of service to Asanteman. He encouraged them to continue their efforts amid new challenges facing Ghana.
He praised Otumfuo Osei-Tutu II, the Life Patron of the Club, for his support and guidance over the years.
Vincent Frimpong Manu Esq., Founding President and Chairman of the Anniversary Planning Committee, spoke next. He stressed celebrating APC's achievements over the past decade.
He recounted several significant interventions by APC during this time. The Club renovated Ashanti Library and donated to Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
They treated thousands through community outreach programs in schools too. Their outreach provided career guidance to over 20,000 students and facilitated internships for many graduates.
The Club makes annual cash donations to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation for education initiatives. Through its USA branch, they have donated school supplies to enhance education locally.
APC also renovated Manhyia Hospital and conducts public education on Asante heritage through Opemsuo Lectures annually.
In 2019, they organized an Asanteman Development Summit with government officials and diplomats to discuss a ten-year development plan for Asanteman.
This summit led to launching a $100 million Development Fund by Otumfuo Osei-Tutu II. An appeal was made for partnerships to achieve goals outlined in this plan.
To celebrate their anniversary, various activities are planned throughout the year. One highlight will be inaugurating a 40-seater ICT Laboratory as a legacy project.
Other activities include creating a feasibility report for establishing a financial institution focused on small businesses in Asanteman. There will also be an impact documentary along with community outreach programs.
The Club will host its eighth Opemsuo Lecture series in Kumasi on “Impact of The Akan Language on National Development.” This series has featured prominent speakers discussing important societal issues over time.
Anniversary celebrations will include a banquet at Manhyia Palace followed by a thanksgiving service with Otumfuor Osei-Tutu II and local chiefs during Akwasidae festivities.
Since its formation in 2015, APC’s membership has grown significantly among prominent Ghanaians supporting its objectives across various fields such as health care, law, education, finance, politics, and entrepreneurship.
By uniting diverse professionals under one agenda, APC provides networking opportunities that enhance members' capacities over time.
As they celebrate their tenth anniversary, success stories will be highlighted alongside future plans and aspirations.
“We invite well-meaning Ghanaians passionate about national development to support us,” said Dr. Antwi in closing remarks at the launch.
He extended an invitation to everyone to participate in anniversary activities like Opemsuo Lectures and other public events planned throughout the year.
