Asantehene calls for collaboration to support less endowed communities

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is calling for collaboration to fight poverty. He believes poverty is a major barrier to children's education in Ghana.

He emphasized the need for more investment in education. This includes better support for teachers and improved infrastructure. These steps are crucial for Ghana’s future.

The Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation has been active for 25 years. The Asantehene described its journey as humbling and inspiring. The Foundation was created when he became king 26 years ago.

His vision was to uplift Asanteman and Ghana through dignity and opportunity. In its early years, the Foundation supported 600 students at public universities. Over time, it expanded to include various transformative projects.

In 2009, these efforts were unified under the Foundation's mission. It focuses on education, health, water and sanitation, culture, and heritage. The Foundation prioritizes support for less privileged individuals and communities.

At the Foundation's 25th-anniversary celebration, an Endowment Fund was launched. The Asantehene urged collective action for a prosperous future in Ghana. He said, “Let your gift tonight be a legacy.”

The Endowment Fund aims to sustain the Foundation’s programs long-term. Former President John Agyekum Kufuor launched the Fund with a goal of raising ₵50 million over five years.

This money will finance the Foundation’s projects and initiatives. Kufuor stated that this fund protects against uncertainties in achieving their vision.

Contributors to the Fund were recognized based on their donations. They received certificates and plaques in bronze, silver, gold, and diamond tiers.
