Asantehene to resume mediation in Bawku crisis at Manhyia Palace on April 28

His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, will resume mediation in the Bawku conflict. This will take place from April 28 to May 1, 2025. The mediation will occur at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

This decision follows an agreement with both parties involved in the crisis. It shows a renewed commitment to finding a lasting solution.

A press release from the Manhyia Palace urged all stakeholders to cooperate fully. “Let us work together in good faith to find lasting peace in Bawku,” it stated. This reflects the King’s dedication to national unity and stability.

Otumfuo’s role in the Bawku conflict symbolizes trusted and neutral leadership. His return comes at a critical time as tensions threaten security and social cohesion in the Upper East Region.

The Palace stressed the importance of dialogue and mutual respect during mediation. Many Ghanaians hope that the Asantehene’s respected stature will lead to meaningful progress. They look forward to ending this years-long conflict in Bawku.
