Asantehene visits Mahama at Jubilee house, gives strong caution to appointees

Asantehene Visits Mahama at Jubilee House

On June 2, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II visited President John Mahama at the Jubilee House. During this visit, he urged Mahama's appointees to prioritize the nation's welfare.

The Asantehene emphasized loyalty and dedication to national development. He reminded them not to lose sight of their responsibilities. Ghanaians have entrusted the country to President Mahama, who has assigned them important roles.

He stressed that Ghana's progress relies on the collective efforts of its leaders. He called for a commitment to putting Ghana first.

In response, Mahama reiterated his administration’s focus on inclusive development. He outlined key infrastructure projects for the Ashanti Region, especially around Kumasi. These projects include the stalled Maternity and Children’s Block at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

Mahama also thanked the Asantehene for his influence in his political career. He recalled how Otumfuo convinced him to be running mate for Prof. John Atta Mills in 2008. At that time, Mahama had planned to quit politics.

He noted that a call from an individual mentioned Otumfuo wanted him in Manhyia. The Asantehene's words ultimately persuaded him to accept the role with Prof. Mills.

Mahama described the Ashanti king as a national icon of peace and visionary leadership.
