Ashanti Commander takes on Dr Amoakohene after criticism during Adum market fire

A significant fire broke out at the Adum Market in Kumasi, leading to extensive damage and loss of goods. The Ashanti Regional Fire Service responded promptly, but their efforts faced criticism from Dr. Amoako-Attahene, who accused them of inadequate response and poor management during the incident. He expressed disappointment over the destruction caused by the fire.

In response to these criticisms, Chief Fire Officer John M. Kofi condemned Dr. Amoako-Attahene's remarks, emphasizing that the firefighters acted swiftly and effectively under challenging circumstances. He highlighted that the personnel worked tirelessly to contain the blaze and prevent further damage, despite facing obstacles such as limited access to water sources.

The Chief Fire Officer urged for a more supportive dialogue regarding fire safety measures rather than blame-shifting after incidents occur. He reiterated the importance of collaboration between community members and emergency services to enhance preparedness and response strategies for future emergencies, ensuring better protection for local markets and businesses.
