A 25-year-old man named Richmond Owusu Kankam has been found dead. His body was discovered in Ahwiaa, a suburb of Kwabre East Municipality in the Ashanti Region.
Richmond's lifeless body was found on the roadside near Ahwiaa RC School. This discovery occurred on Sunday morning, April 6, 2025. It has caused tension and sorrow in the local community.
Richmond lived with his grandmother in Mamponteng. He was last seen on Friday when he left home for errands at the market.
His mother, Nana Yaa, received a troubling phone call later that day. “One of my siblings in Accra asked if I had heard that Rich had been killed,” she said.
Alarmed, she went to his workplace but found it closed. There was no sign of him there.
In her search for her son, Nana Yaa visited the Mamponteng station and other places he frequented. Unfortunately, her efforts were fruitless. She then reported him missing to the Mamponteng Police.
“They told me he might have spent the night at his girlfriend’s house,” she said. She felt frustrated by their lack of urgency.
The next day, she continued her search. While riding a Pragya (tricycle), the driver mentioned a body had been found nearby. Following her instincts as a mother, she went to check and was devastated to find it was her son.
This tragic discovery has shocked the community. Residents are demanding swift action and thorough investigations into Richmond’s death.
Police have not yet released an official statement regarding the case.
