Asogli State Council destools Togbe Afiatsoa III over misconduct

The Asogli State Council has destooled Togbe Afiatsoa III. He was the Mankrado of Ho Bankoe. The council cited persistent misconduct and insubordination as reasons.

This decision was announced on April 17, 2025. It took place at the Asogli State Palace in Ho, Volta Region. Traditional rites were performed, including pouring libation and slaughtering a ram.

The destoolment followed extensive consultations among Elders, Chiefs, and Kingmakers. They reached a unanimous agreement on this matter.

Stephen Tetteh, Secretary of the Asogli State Council, issued a statement. He said Togbe Afiatsoa III showed gross disregard for Traditional Authority. He also denigrated the Agbogbome Stool and brought disrepute to Asogli.

Tetteh stated that he will no longer be recognized as Mankrado of Ho Bankoe. The council noted that Togbe Afiatsoa III used social media to spread falsehoods. Attempts to reform him had failed.

“Sadly, he chose to ignore opportunities for improvement,” Tetteh said. Instead, he spread misinformation aimed at undermining traditional leadership in Ho and Asogli State.
