The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, has issued a warning. He cautioned the public against attacking fire officers. Recently, Fire Service personnel faced attacks over delays in emergency responses.
At the opening of a new fire station in Gomoa Fetteh, he spoke about safety. He stated that anyone who assaults fire officers will be prosecuted. The government plans to enhance staff safety with help from the Ghana Police Service.
When firefighters respond to emergencies, police will accompany them. This measure aims to deter potential attackers and ensure immediate arrests.
Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, also spoke. He urged the public to take steps to prevent fires. He emphasized that safety is a shared responsibility within the community.
