Assurances Committee of Parliament to hold a public hearing from July 2025

Dominic Nitiwul, the Chairman of Parliament's Committee on Assurances, announced plans for public hearings. Starting in July 2025, the committee will check if government promises are fulfilled.

The committee's role is to monitor assurances made by Ministers and other officials. They aim to ensure that Ghanaians' interests are prioritized.

Nitiwul spoke at a workshop in Koforidua for committee members. He emphasized the importance of public speaking and diplomacy skills.

He stated that these skills are essential for executing the committee's duties effectively. The workshop aims to enhance members' abilities in these areas.

"This task requires attention to detail and understanding of Parliamentary procedures," he said. "Effective communication is crucial."

Nitiwul stressed that committee members must hold officials accountable for their promises. They need to ensure representatives monitor commitments made by office holders.

He praised previous Parliament members for their dedication. He promised the current committee would work towards responsible conduct from public officials.

Muhammad Bawah Braimah, Ranking Member on the Assurances Committee, also spoke. He highlighted their responsibility to ensure promises made are honored.

Braimah noted it cannot be acceptable for Parliament to ignore project executions after approving loans.

"We represent the people; our priority is their betterment," he said. "We will ensure promises made in Parliament are fulfilled."

He added that this effort transcends party politics, emphasizing collaboration between NDC and NPP members.
