Astroturfs to boost recreation as Sports Ministry expands - Mustapha Ussif

Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, praised the government. He commended the Nana Akufo-Addo-led administration for building astroturf fields nationwide.

Ussif noted these facilities help develop grassroots football. He spoke in Parliament about their significance and future use. The ministry's new focus on recreation is promising.

He acknowledged the previous administration's vision for astroturfs. "Before Nana Addo, we had only two astroturfs," he said. "Now, after eight years, we have over 200."

Ussif welcomed President John Dramani Mahama's decision to add recreation to the sports ministry’s role. He believes existing infrastructure will boost recreational activities.

"I'm happy because Mahama has added recreation," Ussif stated. He emphasized that these astroturf fields will support local recreational activities.

His comments highlight the growing importance of sports infrastructure in Ghana. It fosters both competitive and leisure activities across the country.
